George H. S.9 Whitney (Joseph H.8, Zachariah7, Zachariah6, Zachariah5, John4, Joseph3, John2, John1), son of Joseph H.8 and Eliza (Derby) Whitney, was born 12 Sep 1837, Lunenburg, MA, and died 18 Apr 1903, Ashburnham, MA [also recorded in Leominster, MA], aged 65 years 7 months 5 days, of injury to skull, night watchman.[1]

He "of Leomminster" married firstly, 5 Jul 1858, Fitchburg, MA, Sarah Elizabeth Shattuck "of Lunenburg", daughter of Charles Russell and Susan Rebecca (Eagles) Shattuck.[2] She was born about 24 Nov 1842, Roxbury, MA, and died 6 Jun 1915, Boston, MA, aged 73 years 6 months 13 days.[3] Apparently there was a divorce. She "Elizabeth S. Shattuck" married secondly, 12 Jul 1869, Boston, MA, Charles Walsh.[4]

He married secondly, 1 Sep 1870, Leominster, MA, Lucilla Hannah (Hodgman) Eldridge "of Groton", daughter of John and Lucy (Wheeler) Hodgman.[5] She was born about 13 Aug 1838, Groton, MA, and died 31 Jul 1876, Leominster, MA, aged 37 years 11 months 17 days.[6] She had married firstly, 15 Sep 1862, Harvard, MA, William Lewis Eldridge, "both of Harvard".[7]

He married thirdly, 19 Sep 1877, Leominster, MA, Sarah Ann (Moore) Abbott "of Ayer", daughter of Joseph and Mary (Sherman) Moore.[8] She was born 27 Aug 1828, Wayland, MA,[9] and died 13 Feb 1914, Ashburnham, MA.[10]

He resided Leominster and Ashburnham, MA.

i. George Henry10 Whitney, b. 21 May 1859, Leominster, MA;[11] m. Mary Etta Bugbee.
ii. Alfred O. L. Whitney, b. 18 Sep 1862 [sic: probably 1861], Shirley, MA; "Alfreeto L." d. 1 Apr 1880, Leominster, MA, aged 19 years 6 months 10 days, of pneumonia.[12]
iii. Eliza Ann Whitney, b. 14 Apr 1863, Leominster, MA;[13] m. 17 Jun 1881, Leominster, MA, Alfred J. "Fred" Robbins, Jr., b. ca. 1853, Nashua, NH, son of Alfred J. and Julia A. (-----) Robbins.[14]

George H. S.9 and Lucilla Hannah (Hodgman)(Eldridge) Whitney had no known children.

George H. S.9 and Sarah A. (Abbott) Whitney had no known children.
