William Alexander9 Whitney (George P.8, Joseph7, Jonathan6, Joseph5, Benjamin4, Joseph3, John2, John1), son of George P.8 and Ruth (Dunham) Whitney, was born about 1832, Winchendon, MA, and died 4 Mar 1905, Royalston, MA, aged 64 years, of la grippe.[1]

He married firstly, 14 Aug 1852, Athol, MA, Polly Sevilla Prouty, daughter of Edward and Betsey (Hager) Prouty. She was born about Jul 1833, Templeton, MA,[2] and died 18 Jun 1860, Templeton, MA, aged 26 years 11 months, of consumption.[3]

He married secondly, 12 Dec 1861, Winchendon, MA, Mary Ann Macomber,[4] daughter of Israel and Mary (White) Macomber. She was born about 26 Aug 1842, East Bridgewater, MA, and died 14 Dec 1908, Winchendon, MA, aged 66 years 3 months 18 days.[5]
