Dea. Luke7 Whitney (Luther6, Israel5, Elijah4, Isaiah3, Thomas2, John1), son of Luther6 and Melinda (Wetherbee) Whitney, was born 9 Sep 1815, Harvard, MA,[1] and died 11 Jul 1884, Harvard, MA, aged 79 years 9 months 29 days, of fractured spine.[2]

He married firstly, 27 Apr 1836, Harvard, MA, Charlotte M. Turner.[3] She was born 10 Feb 1816, and died 13 Jun 1840, Harvard, MA, aged 24 years 4 months 3 days.[4]

He married secondly, 4 Mar 1841, Harvard, MA, Abigail "Abby" Knight,[5] daughter of Heman and Abigail "Nabby" (Sprague) Knight. She was born 6 Jun 1819, Harvard, MA and died 20 Apr 1881, Harvard, MA, aged 61 years 10 months 14 days, of bel[???] cut[??]li.[6]

He married thirdly, 10 Apr 1883, Harvard, MA, Mrs. Lydia Haskell (Hapgood) Hartwell,[7] daughter of Jabez and Susannah (Haskell) Hapgood. She was born 14 Jul 1819, Harvard, MA, and died 17 Apr 1898, Harvard, MA, aged 78 years 9 months, of valvular disease of the heart.[8] She had married firstly, 27 Nov 1877, Jeremiah Chaplin Hartwell, as his second wife.

They resided Harvard. He was born in Harvard on the farm of his great-grandfather, purchased before the town was incorporated. He inherited it from his father and conducted it until his death. He was a member of the Unitarian church and in 1882 was chosen deacon. In 1880 he was one of the school committee, and from 1870 to 1874 was one of the town assessors. Among the many pleasant old ancestral abodes in Harvard, perhaps none exceeds in charming characteristics that of Mr. Luke Whitney on Bear Hill. [History of Middlesex County, p. 567.] He resided Harvard, MA.

iv. Ella Amanda Whitney, b. 6 Jul 1849, Harvard, MA;[13] d. 15 Jan 1851, Harvard, MA, aged 1 year 9 months, of dysentery.[14]
v. Ella Louisa Whitney, b. 13 Nov 1851, Harvard, MA;[15] m. 9 Apr 1874, Harvard, MA, Charles M. Hosmer, b. ca. 1850, Harvard, MA, son of Samuel and Sally B. (Whitcomb) Hosmer;[16] resided 18 Essex St., Charlestown, MA. He was b. 3 May 1848; is in the grocery and provision business. Children:
a. Alice Gertrude Hosmer, b. 21 Jul 1876.

Luke7 and Lydia Haskell (Hapgood)(Hartwell) Whitney had no children.
