Lemuel R.8 Whitney (Obediah Higgins7, Levi6, Abel5, Nathan4, Nathaniel3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Obediah Higgins and Louisa (Bangs) Whitney, was born about 1847, Windham, ME, and died after 1930, probably Milwaukee, WI.

He married, 27 Nov 1872, Gardner, MA, Mary C. Dodwell, daughter of John and Jane (-----) Dodwell.[1] She was born about 1850, Thompsonville, CT, and died between 1920 and 1930, probably Milwaukee, WI.

ii. Fred B. Whitney, b. ca. 7 May 1876, Ottawa, Canada; d. 22 Jul 1879, Gardner, MA, aged 3 years 2 months 15 days, of scarlet fever.[3]
iii. George Burton Whitney, b. 3 Oct 1879, Gardner, MA;[4] d. aft. 1920, then unmarried.
iv. Mary Whitney, b. 3 Feb 1886, Gardner, MA;[5] d. 3 Feb 1886, Gardner, MA, aged 3 days, of malformation [given name omitted].[6]
