Notes

Mary F. H. Whitney is placed here as a child on the strength of the 1850 census. It seems probable that Mary F. H. Whitney was the Mary F. Howard who was living in this family in 1855, and the M. F. Homer who was living in this family in 1860. She may have been a ward, foster daughter, or adopted daughter, with surname Homer, or she may have married one ----- Homer. There was a Mary Frances Howard, b. 1 Apr 1837, Lancaster, MA, dau. of George W. and Elizabeth (Houghton) Howard, who could be this girl. She m. 6 Mar 1862, Clinton, MA, George W. Brown. No relationahip is known between her parents and Joseph or Emma Whitney.
