Capt. Joseph7 Whitney (David6, Samuel5, Benjamin4, Thomas3, Thomas2, John1), son of David6 and Betsey (Darby) Whitney, was born 12 Aug 1802, Rindge, NH, and died 11 Apr 1878, Lancaster, MA, aged 75 years 8 months, of old age.[1]

Marriage intentions were published 20 Mar 1830, Townsend, MA, for him and Eliza Sanders.[2] Marriage intentions were published 21 Mar 1830, Lancaster, MA, for him and Eliza Saunders.[3] He married, 14 Apr 1830, Eliza Saunders,[4] of Townsend, MA, daughter of possibly William Saunders of Townsend. She was born about 24 Nov 1806, Townsend, MA, and died 14 Mar 1887, Lancaster, MA, aged 80 years 3 months 20 days, of chronic nephritis.[5]

Capt. Joseph Whitney was a farmer nearly all his life in Bolton, MA. Later he moved to Lancaster, where he died; resided Bolton and Lancaster, MA.
