George Washington7 Whitney (John Smith6, Thomas5, Thomas4, Eleazer3, Thomas2, John1), son of John Smith6 and Susanna (Knowlton) Whitney, was born about Oct 1809, Petersham, MA, and died 25 Jul 1886, Dana, MA, aged 76 years 9 months, of black gangrene, farmer, s. of John F. (b. Westboro) and Susanna (b. Shrewsbury).[1]

He married, 26 Mar 1833, Dana, MA, Prudence Stone,[2] daughter of John B. and Olive (-----) Stone, and named after her maternal grandmother Prudence (Bassett) Stone. She was born about 1813, Dana, MA, and died 21 Apr 1885, Dana, MA, aged 72 years, of Bright's disease.[3]

He resided Dana, MA.
