Elhanan Winchester7 Whitney (Simon Howard6, Abraham5, Abraham4, Isaiah3, Thomas2, John1), son of Simon Howard6 and Nancy (Barnard) Whitney, was born 21 Oct 1819, Lancaster, MA, and died 17 Nov 1906, Fitchburg, MA, aged 89 years 26 days, of senile debility.[1]

Marriage intentions were published 20 Feb 1843, Leicester, MA, for him and Sarah A. Bogert "of Boston".[2] He married firstly, 14 Mar 1843, Boston, MA, Sarah A. Bogart,[3] daughter of Jeremiah and Maria (Van Valen) Bogert. She was born 30 Dec 1824, New York, NY, and died 30 Jul 1885, Harvard, MA, aged 60 years 7 months, of paralysis.[4]

He married secondly, 2 Nov 1891, Harvard, MA, Hattie Frances Hapgood, daughter of George and Harriet Angeline (Warren) Hapgood.[5] She was born 22 Dec 1854, Hudson, MA (but calculated as about 24 Jan 1856, Bolton, MA), and died 3 Apr 1896, Harvard, MA, aged 40 years 3 months 9 days, of consumption.[6]

He resided Harvard, MA.

iv. Estella Bogert Whitney, b. 1 Feb 1850, Fitchburg, MA;[12] d. 31 Jul 1876; m. 28 Sep 1869 [also recorded as 28 Sep 1874], Fitchburg, MA, Hiram A. Davis, b. 23 Nov 1848, son of James R. and Civonia (-----) Davis.[13] Children:
