Clarence Smyrna9 Whitney (Samuel8, Smyrna7, Samuel6, Samuel5, William4, Nathaniel3, John2, John1), son of Samuel8 and Carolina A. (Puffer) Whitney, was born 27 Mar 1850, Ashland, MA,[1] and died after 1900.

He married, 18 Feb 1875, Providence, RI, Martha Watson Hunt. She was born 7 Jun 1849, Providence, RI, and died after 1900.

He was born at Ashland, MA, where his father was engaged in the manufacture of paper. After an excellent common school education he entered Phillips academy, Andover, MA, and was graduated in 1870. He then started into learn the paper business. At present he is associated with his brother in the wholesale paper business at 63 and 65 Essex St., Boston; resided Sutherland Road, Boston, MA, and Hyde Park, MA.

In 1882 he was a paper dealer living on Rockview St., Boston, MA.

ii. Laura Noble Whitney, b. 7 May 1882, Boston, MA;[5] m. 11 Oct 1904, Boston, MA, Edward P. Jastram, b. ca. 1873, Providence, RI, son of Pardon S. and Julia A. (Brown) Jastram.[6]
