Family:Whitney, Charles Whitman (1827-a1900)
Hon. Charles Whitman8 Whitney (Charles Whitman7, Isaiah6, Isaiah5, Isaiah4, Isaiah3, Thomas2, John1), son of Charles Whitman7 and Mary (Griffin) Whitney, was born 26 Nov 1827, Troy, NH,[1] and died after 1900.
He married, 2 or 4 Sep 1850, NH, Sarah Frances Taylor.[2] She was born 23 Oct 1829, and died after 1880.
He was born in Troy, and with the exception of living three years in Fitzwilliam, and three years in Boston in a wholesale dry goods store, he has spent his time in mercantile business in Troy. Coming home from nine months service as commissary clerk on the James river, in 1865 he bought out the stock of goods and the brick store of D. W. Farrar, in Troy and has been in business in that place since. Held the office of postmaster twenty-five years; a number of town offices; represented the town in legislature in 1871 and 1872; three years was master of Monadnock Lodge F. & A.M.; member of Hugh De Paven's commandery, Keene, NH, resided Troy, NH.

ii. Cora Mable Whitney, b. 28 Jul 1854, Troy, NH; m. 2 or 26 Jan 1881, Troy, NH, Dr. Melvin T. Stone;[4] resided Troy. Children: a. Mary Frances Stone, b. 30 Apr 1886; d. 15 Apr 1891. b. Mildred T. Stone, b. 17 Mar 1889.
iii. Hannah D. Whitney, b. 4 or 11 Sep 1860, Epson, NH.[5] iv. Charles W. Whitney, b. 14 Mar 1861, Troy, NH;[6] m. Lizzie L. Heywood.
