Charles A.7 Whitney (John6, Timothy5, Daniel4, Jonathan3, Jonathan2, John1), son of John6 and Silence (Holbrook) Whitney, was born about 10 Feb 1817, Boston, MA, and died 24 Feb 1861, Fitchburg, MA, aged 43 years 11 months 14 days, of consumption, gunsmith.[1]

He "of Springfield" married firstly, 13 Sep 1846, Springfield, MA, or Enfield, CT, Charlotte Ellen Chaffee "of Hampton",[2] daughter of Frederick and Betsey (Shurtleff) Chaffee. She was born 21 Sep 1827, Hampton, CT, and died 20 Jul 1849, Milford, MA, aged 20 years, of inflammation of the bowels.[3]

He "of Worcester" married secondly, 13 Jan 1851, Millbury, MA, Sarah R. Ainsworth of Worcester, daughter of Harvey and Fanny B. (Jones) Ainsworth.[4] She was born about 1823, Northfield or Randolph, VT, and died 30 Jun 1883, Fitchburg, MA, aged 60 years, of cancer.[5]

He was a gunsmith, resided in Worcester and Fitchburg, MA.

iv. Ada J. Whitney, b. 12 Jun 1859, Fitchburg, MA;[10] d. 14 Jun 1859, Fitchburg, MA, aged 1 day, of premature birth.[11]
