Benjamin Holt9 Whitney (John8, John7, Silas6, Daniel5, Richard4, Richard3, Richard2, John1), son of John8 and Mary Baldwin (Holt) Whitney, was born 13 Nov 1843, Wayland, MA,[1] and died after 1874.

He, of Toledo, OH, married, 14 Jan 1874, Pittsfield, MA, Kate L. Goodman. daughter of William W. and Mary E. (-----) Goodman.[2] She was born 8 Aug 1845, Pittsfield, MA.

B. H. Whitney was educated at Chauncy Hall, Boston, served three years' apprenticeship, 1859-61, with the publishing house of Ticknor & Fields; then in employ of Boston & Worcester railway as freight agent, 1861-67, at Brighton, MA, then went to Toledo, 1867, with the firm of H. W. Sage & County, wholesale lumber, as bookkeeper, manager and partner; then of firm of Whitney & Tracy, wholesale lumber, now manager at Toledo, OH, for the wholesale lumber firm of George N. Fletcher & Sons; resided Toledo, OH, s. p.

Benjamin Holt9 and Kate L. (Goodman) Whitney had no children.
