Austin⁸ Whitney (Samuel⁷, Silas⁶, Samuel⁵, William⁴, Nathaniel³, John², John¹), son of Samuel⁷ and Abigail (Wilder) Whitney, was born 16 Apr 1816, Ashburnham, MA, and died Apr 1891, Saint Paul, MN.

He married, 4 Apr 1854, Stoughton, MA, Esther Augusta Holmes, daughter of Leonard and Fanny (Ballou) Holmes.^[1] She was born 30 Jan 1830, Boston, MA, and died after 1880.

She resided 294 Rundell St., Saint Paul, MN. He has been assessor, selectman and representative in the legislature. He died Saint Paul, Apr 1891; resided Ashburnham, MA, and Saint Paul, MN.
