Amos7 Whitney (Amos6, Abraham5, John4, Benjamin3, John2, John1), son of Amos6 and Martha (Priest) Whitney, was born 30 Jan 1814, Waltham, MA,[1] and died 13 or 18 Mar 1884, Cambridge, MA, aged 70 years 1 month 18 days, of cardiac dropsy.[2]

He "of Boston, Mass." married, 13 Aug 1846, Norwich, CT, Sophia Waterman Potter "of Providence, R.I.",[3] daughter of Samuel and Henrietta (Stoddard) Potter. She was born about 1828, Newport, RI, and died 21 Jul 1895, Cambridge, MA, aged 67 years, of cardiac dropsy, widow, housewife, born Newport, RI, daughter of Samuel and Henrietta (Stoddard) Potter, both b. Newport, RI.[4]

He was a steam engineer, Boston, Providence, and New York Railroad.
