Alfred⁸ Whitney (Horace⁷, Joel⁶, Jonas⁵, David⁴, Benjamin³, John², John¹), son of Horace⁷ and Mary (Sawin) Whitney, was born 8 Aug 1840, Hubbardston, MA.

He married, 19 Jun 1864, Fitchburg, MA, Cordelia Knowles, both of Leominster, daughter of George W. and Lucinda C. (-----) Knowles.^[1] She was born 5 Mar 1846, St. Albans, VT.

He resided Claremont, NH.

This seems to be the same man enumerated in Claremont, but it calls him single, not married. Why he might be boarding there is a mystery.
