Alfred7 Whitney (Abel6, Aaron5, Jonas4, Moses3, Richard2, John1), son of Abel6 and Abigail Holman (Townsend) Whitney, was born 4 Jan 1820, Boston, MA,[1] and died 29 Jun 1901, Westford, MA, aged 82 years 5 months 25 days, of progressive spinal paralysis.[2]

He married, 11 Oct 1851, Lowell, MA, Lydia Elvira Osgood, of Harvard, daughter of Isaac and Abigail (Carlisle) Osgood. She was born 26 Dec 1823, Gilmanton, NH,[3] and died 11 Dec 1896, Cambridge, MA, aged 73 years 11 months 15 days, of heart disease.[4]

Trader, provision dealer, and bookkeeper; resided in Lowell, Boston, and Cambridge, MA.

i. Emma Carlisle8 Whitney, b. 11 Aug 1854, Harvard, MA (given name omitted);[5] d. 14 or 12 Jul 1896, Cambridge, MA, aged 42 years 1 day, of typhoid fever;[6] m. 23 Dec 1874, Cambridge, MA, Joseph S. Burton, son of Smith P. and Elizabeth S. (-----) Burton, b. ca. 1852, Albany, NY; salesman.[7]
ii. Arthur Giles Whitney, b. 1 Feb 1857, Boston, MA;[8] m.(1) Maud W. Nutting; m.(2) Louisa M. (Nowell) Slade.
iv. Alice Hannah Whitney, b. 20 Feb 1860, Boston, MA;[9] d. 28 Dec 1872, Cambridge, MA, aged 12 years 10 months 7 days, of consumption.[10]
