I. Theodore Whitney, b. at Hunter, N. Y., 28 Oct. 1833; a mason and stone-cutter; married, 24 May 1869, at Catskill, N. Y., by Rev. Francis Horton, Protestant Reformed, to Rebecca Halenbeck, dau. of Caspar O. and Christina Halenbeck, of Athens, N. Y., where she was born. He served in Co. A, First Reg., N. Y. Cavalry, in the war of 1861. They were living at Athens in Sept. 1875.

I. John Henry Whitney, b. at Saugerties, N. Y., 9 July 1827; went to California in 1851, and was living at Los Angeles about 1863, when his father last heard from him.

III. Mary Whitney, b. at Saugerties, N. Y., 7 May 1832; married there, 4 Jan. 1852, James Harrison Coleman, a harness-maker, son of John and Dorothy (Horton) Coleman, of Newburgh, N. Y., five miles west of the village, where he was born 30 June 1829. They dwelt in Saugerties till 8 Oct. 1857; in Newburgh till 2 June 1863; and then moved to Sing Sing, N. Y., where they were living in March 1875. He followed his trade till 1869; was then a Croton water inspector, in New York City, for one year; was an officer in the State Prison, at Sing Sing, from Feb. 1870 till 18 July 1872; since which he has been engaged in the express business, between Sing Sing and New York City. He served, for three months, in a regiment of militia, during the war of 1861.
