II. Montross Churchill, b. at New York City, 22 Nov. 1841; was commissioned second-lieut. of Co. K, 18th Reg., N.G.S.N.Y., 1 May 1863; was promoted to be captain of the same company, 23 June 1865; and served with his company for thirty days from 8 July 1863, and again at Fort Richmond, for the same period, in 1864. He married at Yorktown, N.Y., 7 Sept. 1865, Catharine Denison Johnson, who was born there 30 June 1843, dau. of Simeon Brown and Helena Bartow (Wight) Johnson. He was a farmer in 1873, and lived with his grandfather, Gen. Barnardus Montross, on the old homestead in Yorktown.
