Samuel Thomas Whitney, b. in North East Harbor, Nova Scotia, 22 June 1831; a carpenter, joiner and master-builder; settled at Swan's Island, Maine, 10 June 1852, and was there married, 18 Sept. 1853, at her father's house, by her father, a Methodist minister, to Hannah Maria Stinson, who was born at Swan's Island, 21 Jan. 1839, dau. of Rev. Benjamin Franklin and Hannah (Staples) Stinson, and grand dau. of Benjamin and Sarah (Smith) Stinson. They were living at Swan's Island in 1873.

II. Isaac King Whitney, b. on Cape Negro Island, Barrington, Nova Scotia, 4 Jan. 1833; a master-mariner; went to Lunenburg, N.S., 19 Ap. 1855; married at her father's house, on Stephen's Island, now called Young Island, in Mahone Bay, N.S., 28 Jan. 1858, Louisa Sarah Ann Young, who was born on Stephen's Island, 4 Aug. 1836, dau. of Peter and Elizabeth (Hirtle) Young. They dwelt in Lunenburg till 1867, and in Shelburne, N.S., till 1871; when they returned to Lunenburg, and were living there in Aug. 1874.

III. Eleazer Smith Whitney, b. in North East Harbor, Nova Scotia, 30 March 1835; a mariner; married in 1863, at Round Bay, N.S., Elizabeth Ann Hagar, who was born there 27 Dec. 1841, dau. of James and Sophia Jane (Denstead) Hagar. They settled at North East Harbor, and were living there in 1874.

IV. Naomi Greenwood Whitney, b. on Cape Negro Island, North East Harbor, Nova Scotia, 8 May 1837; married at Swan's Island, Maine, 13 Feb. 1859, by Rev. Benjamin Franklin Stinson, Methodist, to Michael Stinson, a mariner, who was born at Swan's Island 31 Oct. 1833, son of Benjamin and Sarah (Smith) Stinson. They settled at Swan's Island, and were living there in 1873.

Mary Ellen Whitney, b. in North East Harbor, Nova Scotia, 1 Dec. 1840; married in Shelburne, N.S., 3 Nov. 1862, Amos Hagar, a mariner, son of William and Joanna (Cox) Hagar, of Round Bay, N.S., where he was born 24 Ap. 1842. They settled at Round Bay, where he was living in 1874. She died at the same place, 18 Oct. 1863, and was buried in North East Harbor Cemetery.

Margaret Ann Whitney, b. in North East Harbor, Nova Scotia, 4 June 1845; married in Lunenburg Town, N.S., 6 May 1867, Leander William Young, a mariner, son of Edward and Caroline (Eisenhaur) Young, of Lunenburg Town, where he was born in 1845. They settled in Lunenburg, and were living there in 1874.
