Family:Whitney, Oliver (1744-1815)

Oliver⁶ Whitney (David⁵, Nathaniel⁴, Nathaniel³, John², John¹), son of David⁵ and Mehitable (Parker) Whitney,^[1] was born 15 Apr 1744, Needham, MA,^[2] baptized 9 Jun 1745, Natick, MA,^[3] and died in 1815.

He married, 9 Jun 1780, Cambridge, MA, Hannah Chase.^[4] She died Cavendish, VT, aged 85 years.

Oliver Whitney was born in Natick, MA, where he resided with his parents. His father died when he was 14 years of age, in 1759; three years later, in 1762, Josiah Newell was appointed his guardian by the Suffolk County Probate Court. He was baptized in Natick by Rev. Oliver Peabody. During the Revolutionary war he took part, enlisting in one of the Natick companies. He resided Nelson, NH, and Cavendish, VT.

iv.	Prudence Whitney, b. 11 Jan 1793; m. 20 Jul 1820, Charles Withereil. He was b. 10 Mar 1792; d. 11 Dec 1873; was a farmer and Seventh Day Adventist. Ch.: Charles C., b. 20 May 1822; m. 14 Jul 1853; d. 23 Dec 1865; Maria L., b. 28 Oct 1823; m. 26 Aug 1851, S. W. Jenkins; d. 15 Mar 1880; S. Eveline, b. 5 Aug 1827; m. W. L.
