- Each census entry would be on a separate page
- The name of each page would convey information about the entry that would be needed for indexes
- Categories
- Included as needed for the index pages
- Suggested format:
- Category:1790 Census (used for Year Indexes)
- Category:1790 Census, Maine (used for Year/State Indexes)
- Category:Maine (used for localities as is our standard)
- Page Name Options:
- Census:Whitney, John - 1790 U.S. Census, Litchfield, Litchfield Co., CT

- Link to Ancestry.com scan (subscription required)
- Use includeonly blocks to designate what to include on transclusion

- Links to previous/next census year for the same person or family
- Links to the family group page for the person or family
Year Index
- Replaces current "All" Pages, showing all entries in a given census year for all states combined.
- The list of items to include would be triggered by Category tags, using either
- standard category pages
- RecentPages display
State/Year Index
- Replaces current State Pages, showing all entries in a given census year for a given state.
- The list of items to include would be triggered by Category tags, using either
- standard category pages
- RecentPages display
Family Group Pages
- Because the entries are one per page, the information can be transcluded onto other pages
- potentially with links to the full data via templates.
