Problem Page

Robert:

The page Archive:Some_of_the_Descendants_of_John_and_Elinor_Whitney was indeed very wrong! I corrected two HTML issues which were causing it to display improperly: 1) many font calls which were not closed properly were causing tables to not be closed properly, and 2) one table had an open table row statement when it should have been a close table row. The page is now displaying properly, but I did have to remove all font statements.

30,000 Ft

Robert:

I am editing the website from my flight using the new in-flight wi-fi - makes the time go much faster and feels much more productive than otherwise!

Name Index

Robert:

The import of the children to the name index pages has been completed. The edits made can be seen by selecting "Recent changes" and selecting "show bots", or by going to User:WRG-Robot and selecting "User contributions".

Many new pages were created that need to be added to the index. I am sure that some pages are no longer needed and need to be removed, but I'll have to write a script to get that listing. Note that the bot does NOT edit or use the large name index page, so it is safe to break it up. A future script might edit this page, but that is not coded, and I'll just code it to access the individual pages if we ever desire it to be automated to that degree.

Take a look at [1] and view the video at the top. Do you think this would benefit our members? :-)

Pages needing attention

Robert:

Please take a look at Pages needing attention. In an attempt to streamline the process, I am rewriting the scripts to update this page with their results. The current page has a dummy list, but one of the scripts is now running and should update it soon. I would suggest that we both add this page to our watchlist, and the "page changed" email will alert us to changes. If you can add it now, I'd like to make sure that that functionality is working for you.

Further updates might include having the script run automatically on a regular basis.

Thanks!

Maine Whitneys in 1800

Robert:

I was able to identify 5 of the 8 unidentified Whitney households in Maine in 1800. We're down to just three - Elizabeth of Portland, David of Bath, and Humphrey of Waterboro.

Andrew Whitney

Robert:

Brendan Harty signed up this morning and added in his lineage based upon what is found in Ellery Bicknell Crane, Historic Homes and Institutions and Genealogical and Personal Memoirs of Worcester County, Massachusetts: With a History of Worcester Society of Antiquity (The Lewis Publishing Company, 1907). Volume II. This source shows his ancestor Andrew Whitney to have been a son of Silas6 and Jane (Pearson) Whitney instead of a son of Abraham5 and Tabitha (Allen) Whitney as our site shows.

Can you review this and give some insight as to why we have the lineage listed differently?

Thank you!

Hugh Henry Whitney

Robert,

I noticed that this page had been flagged: Family:Whitney, Jacob (1797-1833) Jacob7 Whitney (Richard6, Richard5, Israel4, Ebenezer3, Richard2, John1)

I created a new page for Hugh Henry8 and added some information. There are quite a few dates missing and I have not yet added references or moved the census records.

Regards,

Jerry
