Joseph Franklin8 Whitney (Joseph7, Benjamin6, Benjamin5, Joseph4, Joseph3, Jonathan2, John1), son of Joseph7 and Jane (Potter)(Franklin) Whitney, was born 23 Jan 1844, Carlton, MI, and died 6 Aug 1911, Richfield, IL. He was buried in Shiloh Cemetery, Plainville, IL.[1]

He married firstly, 15 Oct 1865, Carlton, MI, Betsey J. Cheney, daughter of Alfred and Mary (Myers) Cheney. She was born about 1851, MI, and died 31 May 1908, Chicago, IL. She was buried in the Fuller Family Cemetery, Carlton, MI.[2] They were divorced before 1876.

He married, 21 Jun 1876, Hannibal, MO, Lucinda Ann George, daughter of Alex and Malinda (Kinder) George. She was born 5 Feb 1859, Richfield, IL, and died 27 Dec 1940, Hull, IL, aged 81 years. She was buried in Shiloh Cemetery, Plainville, IL.[3]

He served in the Civil War.
