Family:Whitney, Aaron Wilkes (1781-1833)
Aaron Wilkes6 Whitney (Ebenezer5, David4, Joseph3, John2, Henry1), son of Ebenezer5 and Ruth (Raymond) Whitney, was born 17 Oct 1781, Norwalk, CT,[1] and died 3 Nov 1833, Bridgeport, CT, by suicide.
He married, 5 Jul 1804, Wilton, CT, Sarah Bennett, daughter of David and ----- (Olmstead) Bennett of Wilton. She was born 16 Jun 1780, Wilton, CT, and died 2 Mar 1866, Wilton, CT. She apparently was the "Mrs. Sally Whitney, of Fairfield" who married, 16 Feb 1838, Stratfield, CT, Dea. Justus Silliman, "of Weston".[2] His daughter Marinda married her son Raymond.
Phoenix says the following:
- . . . a shoemaker . . . . They settled in Wilton, where he was ordained, about 1825 to 1828, as a minister of the Baptist Church. They afterward moved to Bridgeport, Conn., and there died; he, 3 Nov. 1833, by suicide; she, 2 March 1866. They were buried in the old Stratfield Cemetery, in Fairfield, near Bridgeport.
