Joshua Jewell (Joshua, Sarah³ Whitney, Joshua², John¹), son of Joshua and Mary (Dean) Jewell, was born 14 May 1741, Cornwall, CT, and died 2 Apr 1785, Salisbury, CT.

He married, 25 Mar 1779, Salisbury, CT, Lucy (Gore) Murphy, daughter of Obadiah and Hannah (Parke) Gore. She was born 28 May 1754, Norwich, CT, and died 30 Sep 1820, Luzerne County, PA. She had married, 1775, Roxbury, MA, John Murphy. He died 3 Jul 1778, Wyoming, Luzerne County, PA.

Children of Joshua and Lucy (Gore)(Murphy) Jewell, all born Salisbury, CT:

i.	Lucy Jewell, b. 28 Jun 1780; d. 30 Jul 1856, Jasper, IL; m. circa 1799, PA, James Osborn.
ii.	Mary Jewell, b. 2 Apr 1782.
iii.	Abi Jewell, b. 18 Nov 1784.
