I. Elias James Whitney, b. at 31 Allen Street, New York, 20 Feb. 1827; an artist, designing and engraving on wood; married at Brooklyn, N. Y., 12 Nov. 1847, by Rev. E. E. L. Taylor, pastor of the Pierrepont Street Baptist Church, to Mary Helen Van Voast, dau. of Giles and Angelica Van Voast, of Schenectady, N. Y. She was born at Albany, N. Y., 25 Dec. 1825. They settled at Brooklyn; and were living there, at 87 St. James' Place, in Aug. 1874.
