He married, Mary Eliza Pennington.
He was born in the Green Mountain state, and with his brothers Henry and Charles migrated to New Orleans. Was pilot on the Mississippi river when the war broke out, and joined the Confederate navy, being impressed into the service. He resided New Orleans, LA.

Whitney, b. -----. He resided in Boston, MA, is employed on the Herald. iii. (daughter) Whitney, b. -----; m. Evan H. Morgan; resided Baltimore, MD. iv. Roberta Harp Whitney, b. 7 Dec 1861; m. 19 Aug 1877, John Thomas Seward; resided New Orleans, LA, Cor. Clouet and Chartres Sts. He was b. 3 Apr 1853. - Ch.: Alfred Henry, b. 22 Jun 1879.
