Marriage banns for Isaiah and Elizabeth Whitney were published 15 Nov 1728 at Stow, MA.

He An Isaiah Whitney "of Lancaster" had an intent to marry an Elizabeth Farrow published in Stow on 15 Nov 1728. This COULD be the Elizabeth Whitney shown, with her name provided as her married name rather than her maiden name. More confirmation needed. This is the only Isaiah Whitney of marriageable age known to be in the MA VR's in 1728 (see index from Robert Ward).**"Stow, Massachusetts, 1683 - 1933, compiled in honor of The Two Hundred Fiftieth Anniversary of the Town"; published by Rev. & Mrs. Preston R. Crowell of Stow, Massachusetts; n.p.d. - says he moved to Harvard and purchased lands of Caleb Sawyer on "Bare Hill" in 1722. Was a blacksmith. Joined the Harvard church in 1733; his wife in 1734. She lived to be 106 years old. Had 2 Children,-- Betty, Isaiah No. 3.

Elizabeth Whitney was born circa 1707 at of Stow, MA. She married Jonathan Sawyer Jr. on 30 Sep 1740 at Harvard, MA; wife "wid." She died before 15 Jul 1757 at Harvard, MA. Her estate was probated on 15 Jul 1757 at Harvard, MA; will proved. She was also known as Elizabeth Farrar. She was also known as Elizabeth Farrow. She RW, 6-Gen. Elizabeth Farrar married Jonathan Sawyer Jr. on 30 Sep 1740, Harvard, Worcester, MA; wife "wid." She was also known as Elizabeth Whitney. She was also known as Elizabeth Farrow. She left a will on 8 May 1756, Harvard, Worcester, MA; mentions granddaughter Betty Bruce. Her estate was probated on 15 Jul 1757, Harvard, Worcester, MA; will proved. She left a will on 8 May 1756 at Harvard, MA; mentions granddaughter Betty Bruce.

Persis Randall circa 1757 at Harvard, MA; d. 23 Feb 1817 at Harvard, MA, at age 81; aged 83 years; d. 23 Feb 1818 at Harvard, MA, at age 82; aged 82 years, of typhus fever. He "Stow, Massachusetts, 1683 - 1933, compiled in honor of The Two Hundred Fiftieth Anniversary of the Town"; published by Rev. & Mrs. Preston R. Crowell of Stow, Massachusetts; n.p.d. - says "He was born in Harvard, lived and died on his father's farm on 'Bare Hill.' He was in the Revolutionary Army. Had five children,--Jonah, Dorcas, Isaiah(4), Amos, Cyrus(No. 1)."**Further from the Harvard VR's. There was a child shown as John Whitney, s. of Isaiah and Persis Whitney baptized 30 Mar 1760, information from C.R.1. This may well be a miscopying for Jonah being baptized at age 1y, 9m. If not, with Dorcas being born in Apr of 1760, this "John" would have to have been born sometime in the late spring/early summer of 1759. There is no death record of such a John.**From "Whitney Genealogy" (Pierce?) "He resided on the farm which his father purchased in 1722, before the town was incorporated. There were in Harvard tow others by the same name as his: one was called 'one thumb Zaiah,' because he had but one thumb, and the other 'Pond Zaiah,' because he lived near Bare Hill pond. He was in the Revolutionary army, in the company from Harvard, commanded by Capt. Davis. On the rolls in the State House at Boston he is reported dead. His gravestone gives his age as 83. Res. Harvard and Stow, Mass."**Apropos his death date; two records appear in the Harvard VR extracts. The first, marked G.R.1, shows the date as 23 Feb 1817, age 83. The second, marked C.R.1, shows the date as 23 Feb 1818, age 82y. Typhus Fever.
