Levi⁶ Whitney (Abel⁵, Nathan⁴, Nathaniel³, Benjamin², John¹), son of Abel⁵ and Thankful (Morton) Whitney, was born 15 May 1779, Gorham, Maine;^[1]

Levi Whitney and Happy Higgins filed marriage intentions 28 Aug 1802, Standish, Maine.^[2] and were married 10 Nov 1802, Standish^[3] or Sep 1801, Cape Cod, Massachusetts.^[4] Happy Higgins was born 17 Apr 1781, Cape Cod and died in 1856.^[5] Levi Whitney died in 1855.^[6]

Levi Whitney was a Private in the War of 1812 and served under Capt. J Bailey's Company, Lt. Col. J. Burbank's Regt, Served from September 7 to September 20, 1814. 1 day for additional travel. Service at Portland. Raised in Standish.^[7]

Levi Whitney is on Standish Tax List for 1808.^[8]

Lucetta Whitney, born 1 Jun 1806, Standish;[11] baptized 17 Oct 1809, Standish.[12] Marriage intentions for Lucetta and Sargent Rich, both of Standish, were filed 25 Dec 1831[13] and published 10 Jan 1832.[14] They were married 31 Jan 1832.[15] They were enumerated in 1850 in Standish. Ch: Mary A., b. ca. 1834; Alanson M., b. ca. 1839; Harriet E., b. ca. 1841; Vienna L., b. ca. 1846
iii.	Obediah Higgins Whitney, born 10 Jan 1809, Standish, Maine;[16] baptized 17 Oct 1809, Standish;[17] Intentions for the marriage of Obadiah Whitney and Louisa Bangs were filed 23 Jan 1836,[18] and they were married 14 Feb 1836, Standish.[19] She was born between 1811 and 1812 in Gorham, Maine; died 13 May 1852 in Windham, Maine. He died after 1880 in Windham, Maine.[20] He was enumerated in 1850 in Windham, Cumberland County, Maine (mis-transcribed under the surname Rhetney) Ch: Benjamin F., b. ca. 1838; Isaac R., b. ca. 1840; James H., b. ca. 1842; Elizabeth, b. ca. 1845; Lemuel R., b. ca. 1847; Edwin, b. ca.1851
iv.	Abel Whitney, born 22 Mar 1811, Standish.[21] Marriage intentions for Abel Whitney and Sarah Cole were filed 28 Mar 1835 and certified 12 Apr 1835.[22] They were married 19 Apr 1835.[23]
v.	Joseph Whitney, born 28 Dec 1813, Standish;[24] baptized 1 Sep 1815, Standish;[25] married Harriett Morse; resided Sanford, Maine.[26]
vi.	Levi Whitney, born 31 May 1816, Standish;[27] baptized 1 Sep 1816, Standish[28] and/or 23 Feb 1817.[29]
vii.	Flavilla Ann Whitney, born 17 Apr 1819, Standish;[30] baptized 16 Aug 1819, Standish.[31] Marriage intentions for Miss Ann F. Whitney and James Field were filed 20 Oct 1848 and certified 16 Nov 1848. [32] They were married 4 Nov 1848.[33] They were enumerated in 1850 in Windham, Cumberland County, Maine. Ch: Silas, b. ca. 1836; Eben, b. ca. 1838; Harras, b. ca. 1841; Harriet F., b. ca. 1846.
viii.	Francis Covel Whitney, born 16 Mar 1823, Standish;[34] baptized 11 Nov 1824, Standish.[35] He resided with his parents in 1850. Marriage intentions of Francis C. Whitney and Rosanna Harmon were filed 18 Oct 1851 and certified 1 Nov 1851,[36] but the marriage is not recorded at Standish.
ix.	Isaac Rogers Whitney, born 11 Apr 1825, Standish;[37] baptized 19 Jun 1825, Standish;[38] died 14 Oct 1831, Standish.[39]

Note: There is also a recorded birth for a Joseph Whitney, born 31 May 1816. ^[40] It is not known if this was a mistake for Levi, a twin of Levi, or another situation.
