Jonathan5 Whitney (Samuel4, John3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Samuel4 and Lydia (Spooner) Whitney, was born 4 or 21 Dec 1734, Brunswick, ME,[1] and died after 1766.[2]

Marriage banns were published 30 Sep 1761, Brunswick, ME, for him and Mary Henden

Mary Henden was born circa 1740 at probably Brunswick, ME.

Pierce says the following:[3]

He was born in the old town of York, Me., but moved to Brunswick with his parents at an early age. He settled in Bath, Me., and died there in his eighty-fourth year. He was captured by the Indians at New Meadows in Bath when but seventeen years of age. He was also a soldier in the Revolutionary war.

Children of Jonathan5 and Mary (Henden) Whitney:

i. Lydia6 Whitney, b. 20 Aug 1762, Brunswick, ME, m. 15 Nov 1783, Topsham, ME, or 16 Nov 1783, Lewiston, ME, Abner Stevens.[4].
ii. Amos Whitney, b. 18 Apr 1766, Bath, ME, m. Abigail Springer.
iii. (possibly) Jonathan Whitney, Jr., m. 2 Dec 1790, Topsham, ME, Esther Higgins.
