Silas6 Whitney (David5, Benjamin4, Thomas3, Thomas2, John1), born prob. 1737; married in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, Mar, 1758, Jane Pearson, of that place.
He was born probably in 1737. In 1758 he went to No Town (Princeton) and purchased land. He was a blacksmith and followed that trade. His wife, whom he married soon after going to No Town, was from Shrewsbury, where they were married. In 1763 he moved to Winchendon, and soon after, in Feb 1773, to Rindge, New Hampshire, from which place he was warned out of town. While residing in Winchendon he kept hotel at the center, and in 1764 was chosen church warden and surveyor of boards and shingles. Later he moved to Clarendon, Vermont. In the county of Worcester, Massachusetts, Registry of Deeds, lib.57, fol.50. There is a record of a deed of Silas Whitney and wife Jane, of Princeton, to one Jones, 2 Jul 1762. This is the land he had purchased four years before. Resided Princeton and Winchendon, Massachusetts, Rindge, New Hampshire. Clarendon, Vermont.
