I will forward this message onto the Whitney Research Group membership to see if they can be identified. Thanks! :) Jeanne Muse ----- Original Message ----- From: Mlkcass -at- aol.com To: jwmuse -at- earthlink.net Sent: Sunday, December 29, 2002 7:19 PM Subject: Re: Lysander & Lydia Whitney I an also a descendant of the Whitney family. Last year I took a trip to Vermont from Texas to do some further research and took a lot of pictures of the cemetery in Ludlow and took pictures of the headstones of Lysander and Lydia Whitney. There is also a very small cemetery in Cavendish, Vermont called Twenty Mile Stream Cemetery. There were also some old headstone's of some Whitneys some of which I've been able to trace but 2 of which I can not. Oliver Whitney and Mehitabel Whitney. Since I saw that Mehitabel was a family name you had listed thought you might could help. The headstone says " Daughter of Oliver & Hannah Whitney died May 31, 1863 age 75 years." Then there is Oliver's headstone "Oliver Whitney died Dec 29 1812, Ae 69 year 8mo A Solider of the Revolution." and then Hannah's headstone "Hannah wife of Oliver died Nov 29 1841 ae 87". This cemetery is very old and very hard to get to it was on top of a hill, but very well kept, as a matter of fact, when ! my mother and I were there, there was an elderly couple there mowing it but they could tell us very little about it. We were actually looking for the old Whitney farm that use to be some where in that area but were unable to find it. Would appreciate any help you could give me. Mindy mlkcass -at- aol.com
