Smyrna7 Whitney (Samuel6, Samuel5, William4, Nathaniel3, John2, John1), son of Samuel6 and Thankful (Wilder) Whitney was born 5 Mar 1786, Westminster, MA,[1] and died 16 May 1857, Westminster, MA, aged 72 years 2 months, of dropsy.[2]

Marriage intentions were published 27 Oct 1812, Westminster, MA, for him and Ruth7 Whitney.[3] He married, 26 Nov 1812, Westminster, MA, Ruth7 Whitney, daughter of Nathan6 and Eunice (Puffer) Whitney. She was born 12 Nov 1789, Westminster, MA,[4] and died 25 Nov 1857, Westminster, MA, aged 68 years, of lung fever.[5]

He was born on a farm, was fitted for collage at the academy at New Ipswich, NH, but was prevented from continuing his studies by sickness and death of his father. He settled on the old homestead farm, where he lived till upward of sixty years of age, when he sold out and moved to the village where he died. He taught school several terms; was first selectman a long time. He married Ruth Whitney and raised a family of six children. He was a prosperous farmer and a substantial, honored citizen, active in public affairs, serving some years as selectman and as one of the school committee, and in other less conspicuous places. He resided Westminster, MA.
