Family:Whitney, Sarah (1752-1777)
Sarah5 Whitney (Gershom4, Joshua3, Benjamin2, John1), daughter of Gershom4 and Sarah (Wood) Whitney,[1] was born 2 Mar 1752, Woodstock, CT,[2] and died 3 Oct 1777, Upton, MA.[3]
Sarah married, 15 May 1772, Upton, MA, Jonathan Flagg,[4] as his first wife, son of James and Anna (Morse) Flagg.[5] He was born 15 Nov 1751, Upton, MA,[6] and died on 2 Jul 1842 at Shelburne, MA, aged 91 years.[7]
He married secondly, 11 Apr 1786, Deerfield, MA, Thankful (Hawks) Hawks,[8] as her second husband. She was born 26 Jan 1738/9, Deerfield, MA, daughter of Eleazer and Abigail (Wells) Hawks, and widow of John Hawks.[9] Her date and place of death are unknown.
He married thirdly, 13 Jul 1811, Shelburne, MA, Patience Crane,[10] daughter of Benjamin and Patience (Vose) Crane.[11] She was born 2 May 1766, Dedham, MA,[12] and died 24 Mar 1849, Shelburne, MA, aged 82 years 11 months, of old age.[13]
On 10 Nov 1792, distribution of the estate of Gershom Whitney was made by a commission, first to the widow Bathsheba Whitney, for her dower rights, and then to the following heirs: to Hannah Gilbert, £6-16s-2d, which is all for her, as she already took more than her share; to Sarah Flagg, 11s-6d; to Polly Whitney, 11s; to Marcy Whitney, 11s-6d; and the last three to divide the balance of the real estate, which amounts to £6-16s-0d, and also 1/6 of the barn.[14]
Children of Jonathan and Sarah5 (Whitney) Flagg, all born Upton, MA:
i. Sally Flagg, b. 13 Apr 1773;[15] m. Constantine Hardy. ii. Jonathan Flagg, b. 26 Feb 1775;[16] no further record. iii. Timothy Flagg, b. 28 May 1777;[17] m. Polly Torrey.
