Family:Whitney, Samuel (1745-1842)

Samuel⁶ Whitney (Samuel⁵, Thomas⁴, Thomas³, Thomas², John¹), son of Samuel⁵ and Grace (-----) Whitney, was born 10 Sep 1745, Stow, MA, surely the Samuel Whitney who died 12 Apr 1842, Lancaster, MA, aged 95 years. He was buried in Shirley Shaker Cemetery, Lancaster, MA.^[1]

He married, date and place unknown, Lucy -----. She was born about 1752-1755, Grafton, MA, and died 29 Feb 1852, Shirley, MA, aged 97 years, of lung fever.^[2] She was buried in the Shirley Shaker Cemetery, Lancaster, MA.^[3]

They joined the Shaker Community in Shirley and Lancaster, MA, where both were living when they died.

The 1790 census indicates that he apparently had a wife, a son, and two daughters.

One unidentified Samuel Whitney supposedly married, 1 Dec 1772, Lunenburg, MA, Ruth Goodridge, daughter of Joshua and Lydia (Stearns) Goodridge, born 13 Sep 1751, Lunenburg, MA. Whether this is the above Samuel⁶ Whitney is unknown.
