Orange P.8 Whitney (David7, Ebenezer6, Ephraim5, Zachariah4, Ebenezer3, Richard2, John1), son of David7 and Clarissa (-----) Whitney, was born about 1829, and died Dec 1864, possibly Salisbury Prison, NC.
He married, 4 Feb 1862, Ellen Louisa Loomis, daughter of Griswold Orsman and Alvina Faith (Titus) Loomis. She was born 8 Apr 1842, Lenox, PA, and died 29 Oct 1913, Springville, PA. She married secondly, 17 Sep 1867, Clifford, PA, Jeremiah Burns Avery, and died after 1880.
Enlisted 7 May 1864, aged 35 years, as a Private, Co. H., 187th Pennsylvania Infantry. On 21 Aug 1864 he was reported as missing in action at the Weldon Railroad, Petersburg, VA.
