Rev. Nicholas Bowes7 Whitney (Phinehas6, William5, William4, Nathaniel3, John2, John1), son of Phinehas6, was born 21 Mar 1772, Shirley, MA,[1] and died 26 Nov 1835, Hingham, MA.[2]

He married, 13 Nov 1800, Acton, MA, Ann Adams, daughter of Rev. Moses and Abigail (Stone) Adams. She was born 18 Jan 1776, Framingham, MA, and died 22 Oct 1864, Hingham, MA, aged 88 years 9 months 4 days, of old age.[3]

He was born at Shirley, MA, received an excellent preparatory education and was graduated at Harvard college in the class of 1793. Was ordained a colleague with Rev. Daniel Shute of the second parish in Hingham, MA, 1 Jan 1800. Resigned his pastorate 15 Apr 1833. He was married at Acton to a daughter of Rev. Moses Adams. She was born in Framingham and died in Hingham. He represented Hingham in the State legislature in 1831 and 1832. Resided on Main Street in South Hingham and died in his 63th year, respected by all who knew him. He resided Hingham, MA.

iii. Benjamin Lincoln Whitney, b. 24 Jun 1810, Hingham, MA; m. Caroline St. Aubyn Homer.
