Newton8 Whitney (Nathan7, Salmon6, Jonas5, Jonas4, Moses3, Richard2, John1), son of Nathan7 and Nancy (Farwell) Whitney, was born, 22 Jul 1820, Harvard, MA,[1] or 2 Jul 1820,[2] or 26 Jul 1820.

He married firstly, 6 Jan 1848, Hampton Falls, NH, Mary Preble White.[3] She was born 2 Jul 1829,[4] and died 9 Aug 1849, West Springfield, MA,[5] or Cabotville, Chicopee, MA, aged 20 years, of cholera. She was buried in Cabotville Cemetery.[6]

He married secondly, 10 May 1868, Chicopee, MA [also recorded in Holyoke, MA], or 24 May 1868, South Hadley, MA, Mary L. (Davis) Hayward, daughter of Charles and Charlotte (-----) Davis.[7] She was born 12 Jul 1845, Kingston, ON,[8] and died 5 Nov 1899, Holyoke, MA, aged 53 years 3 months 23 days, of carcinoma of the uterus.[9]

He is a farmer; resided Chicopee, MA, P.O. Box 60.

iv. George Whitney, b. 10 Apr 1875, Holyoke, MA;[11] m. 24 Apr 1901, Holyoke, MA, Maude L. Thompson, b. ca. 1876, Scotland, dau. of Alexander and Isabella (Lindsey) Thompson;[12] resided Chicopee.
