Lorenzo Dow7 Whitney (Ira6, Hezekiah5, Hezekiah4, Joseph3, John2, Henry1), son of Ira6 and Judith (Flood) Whitney, was born 8 Feb 1813, Colchester, VT, and died after 1880.
He married firstly, Melinda/Belinda Reynolds. She was born about 1825, ME, and died May 1852, Fletcher, VT.
He married secondly, 1854, Mahala Dike, daughter of Elisha and Betsey (Hendrick) Dike. She was born 1825, Sterling, VT, and died 25 Apr 1871, Charleston, VT.
Phoenix says the following:
- "... a stone-mason .... They lived in Fletcher, East Fairfield, Fairfield, and Charleston, Vt., in the last of which she died, 25 Ap. 1871. He was living at North Wolcott, Vt., in 1874."

Henry Dow Whitney, b. 28 Apr 1845, Fletcher, VT; m. Harriet Clarina Reynolds. iii. Alvin James Whitney, b. 14 Oct 1847, Fletcher, VT; m.(1) Charlotte Brown Fisher; m.(2) Lizzie E. Scribner. iv. Julia Ann Whitney, b. May 1850, Fletcher, VT; was living at Sheldon, VT, in 1873. By Andrew Hale she had an illegitimate son: a. Ellery R.9 Whitney, b. 11 Mar 1868, Hyde Park, VT.[1]
v. Mary Eleanor Whitney, b. 8 May 1852, Fletcher, VT; d. 11 Jul 1874, East Charlestown, VT, of consumption; m. 15 Jun 1872 or 25 Jul 1872, Charleston, VT, Edwin Dyer Allyn, of Charlestown, VT, son of Alpha and Adelaide (Nash) Allyn.[2]
