Josiah Whitney, parentage unknown, born circa 1800, NH or MA, and died about 1863, Clinton, IA.

He married, perhaps about 1822, Nancy Ann -----, born about 1802, NY, died about 1866, Clinton, IA.

iv. Jabez H. Whitney, b. ca. 1827, VT; m. Rebecca J. Fetters.
v. Lyman L. Whitney, b. 21 Sep 1829, Shoreham, VT; m. Laura L. Parker.
vi. Edson Whitney, b. 30 May 1831, Shoreham, VT; m. Sarah Maria Smith.
vii. Sanford R. Whitney, b. ca. 1833, VT; m. Margaret Wilcher.
viii. Henry Whitney, b. ca. 1837, NY; d. after 1850.

Notes

In 1830, Josiah was listed with John Whitney in Shoreham, of a similar age, and possibly his brother. This may be a clue to his identification.
