Joseph Gordon⁸ Whitney (Philip⁷, Eleazer⁶, Nathan⁵, Thomas⁴, Eleazar³, Thomas², John¹), son of Philip⁷ and Sarah (Cook) Whitney, was born 24 Dec 1829, Halifax, VT, and died 29 Aug 1903, Brattleboro, VT, aged 73 years 8 months 5 days.

He married firstly, 3 Nov 1852, Halifax, VT, Samantha L. Damons.^[1] She was born 6 Mar 1831, Halifax, VT, and died 8 Jul 1863, Brattleboro, VT, aged 32 years 4 months 3 days.

He married secondly, 10 Jun 1865, Brattleboro, VT, Eliza Elizabeth Bingham,^[2] aged 30, daughter of Jonathan C. and Lavina (Willis) Bingham. She was born 27 Mar 1835, Brattleboro, VT, and died 29 Jul 1895, aged 60 years 4 months.

He married thirdly, 26 Apr 1899, Brattleboro, VT, Louise Achsah (Hart) Howard, daughter of Lewis M. and Ellen H. (Fish) Howard.^[3] She was born Jul 1851, VT. She had married firstly, ----- Howard, by whom she had a son Dana Howard, born Oct 1870, VT, and one other child.

This family are buried in Whitneyville Cemetery, Halifax, VT.
