- Joseph Whitney, a former resident of our village from whence he moved to Marshalltown, Ia., In 1866, died there on the 16th past from cancer of the face, after excruciating suffering for the past 8 months. Mr. W. was from Jay, Essex county, N. Y., and moved here in the year 1844. He was about 59 years of age at death.

- Joseph Whiting, brother of our Postmaster, Wm, T. Whitney, died at Marshalltown, Iowa, on the 16th of this month, from cancer of the face, after suffering eighteen months. Mr. Whitney was born at Jay, Essex county, New York, from which place he emigrated here in 1864. He removed to Iowa in 1866. He died aged about 59.
