Jonathan Mather⁹ Whitney (Lemuel Griffith⁸, Joseph⁷, Lemuel⁶, Joshua⁵, Nathaniel⁴, Nathaniel³, John², John¹), son of Lemuel Griffith⁸ and Catherine Elizabeth (Conrow) Whitney, was born 20 Aug 1851, Springfield, VT, and died after 1891, when his wife was "married" at death.

He married, 30 Sep 1872, Lephe Allen, daughter of Franklin Partridge and Betsey (Ober) Allen. She was born about 1849, Clinton Co., NY, and died 5 May 1891, Minneapolis, MN.

He resided Minneapolis, MN.

i.	Frank L.10 Whitney, b. ca. 1873, MI.
ii.	Glen Cole Whitney, b. 17 May 1875, MI; d. 13 Feb 1953, Orange Co., CA. He may have been the "Glen C. Whitney", age 30, b. MI, enumerated on the 1905 Wisconsin Census in Poy Sippi, Waushara Co., WI with his wife Alice M. [(Cockerill)] and son Allen G[lenn] Whitney [b. 30 May 1902, Poy Sippi, WI]. His parents were listed as born in NY. He is also enumerated there in the 1900 Census.
iii.	Allen Fitch Whitney; b. 24 Sep 1895, CA; d. 17 Aug 1956, Los Angeles Co., CA; "Allen J.", b. ca. 1882, per 1892 census.
iv.	Ethan M. Whitney, b. ca. 1884; d. aft. 1892.
