Family:Whitney, John (c1833-1861)

John Whitney (Lovet P., [perhaps] Lovet T.), son of Lovet P. and Marion (Hugens) Whitney, was born about 1833, KY, and died 25 Oct 1861, Butler Co., KY (also said 1875).

He married, 17 Apr 1851, Butler Co., KY, Catharine Jane Sharer,^[1] daughter of Henry and Chloe (Taylor) Sharer. She was born about 1825, KY, and died said 1856.

Children of John and Catherine Jane (Sharer) Whitney:

i.	James H. Whitney, b. ca. 1853, KY; m. Hannah Merilla Marsh.
ii.	George M. Whitney, b. 27 Jul 1854, Muhlenberg Co., KY; d. 12 Nov 1923, Petersburg, IN; bur. Walnut Hill Cemetery, Petersburg, IN;[2] m. 6 Sep 1873, Pike Co., IN, Margaret Ferguson.[3]
iii.	Francis Whitney, b. ca. 1860, KY (female); d. aft. 1870; no further record found.

Notes

There seems to be some confusion between him and John W. Whitney (c1833-b1870), q.v. They were first cousins.
