John2 Whitney (James1, John), son of James and Ann (Tomkinson) Whitney, born 27 Apr 1868, Runcorn, Cheshire, England,[1] and died after 1920.

He married firstly, about 1899, Hermina Therrault, daughter of Joseph and Jeanette (Lemieux) Therreault. She was born about 16 Dec 1874, QC, and died 16 Sep 1903, Fitchburg, MA, aged 28 years 10 months 0 days, of pelvic abscesses.[2] She was buried in St. Bernard Cemetery, Fitchburg, MA.

He married secondly, 2 Jan 1904, Fitchburg, MA, Mary "Mamie" E. Crosby, daughter of Zachariah and Abbie (Moore) Crosby.[3] She was born circa 1884, East Boston, MA, and died after 1920.

In 1871 and 1881 he resided in Runcorn with his family. In 1881 he was working as an office boy.

In 1891 he was working as a clerk and lodging in the home of James Johnson in Warrington, Lancashire, England. He emigrated to America in 1892.[4]

On the passenger list of the Pavonia, arriving in Boston from Liverpool, 10 Jul 1892, John Whitney is listed as a broker, aged 24, destined for Maine, last living in Warrington.

On 1 Oct 1897 in Alfred, ME, he was naturalized as a citizen. His residence then was Sanford, ME.

In 1910 he resided in Fitchburg, Worcester Co., MA with his family, including his widowed father James Whitney.

In 1920 he resided in Fitchburg, Worcester Co., MA with his family.

iii. Harold John Whitney, b. 4 Jun 1908 (twin), Fitchburg, MA;[8] d. 16 Aug 1908, Fitchburg, MA, aged 2 months 12 days, of congenital valvular heart disease.[9]
iv. Donald Frederick Whitney, b. 2 Feb 1910, Fitchburg, MA.[10]
