Joel⁶ Whitney (Abijah⁵, Daniel⁴, Henry³, John², Henry¹), son of Abijah⁵ and Elizabeth (Ellsworth) Whitney, was born 29 Nov 1788, Warwick, NY, and died 11 Feb 1858, Brooklyn, NY, aged 69 years.

He married, 3 Dec 1808, Florida, NY, Mary Ann Jennings, daughter of Richard and Jemima (Vail) Jennings. She was born 3 May 1786, Orange Co., NY, and died 1833.

Phoenix says the following:

"Joel Whitney, b. in Warwick, N. Y., 29 Nov. 1788; married, 3 Dec. 1808, in Florida, N. Y., Mary Ann Jennings. They settled in Florida. He died in Brooklyn, N. Y., 11 Feb. 1858, aged 69 years, at the house of his son, Richard Jennings Whitney."
