James8 Whitney (Benjamin7, James6, Benjamin5, James4, John3, Jonathan2, John1), son of Benjamin7 and Hepzibah (Moore) Whitney, was born 7 Jun 1811 or 9 Jun 1811, Wrentham, MA,[1] and died 1 Jan 1856, Edinburg, NY.
He married, 13 Sep 1840, Lura Johnson. She was born in 1815, Schroon Lake, NY, and died after 1905, Edinburg, NY. She married secondly, 16 Apr 1865, Elisha G. King.
Mary was a school teacher in Edinburg, NY

- In the 1850 census, James and his family were next door to Benjamin Whitney, age 65, b. MA and his wife "Epsee" Whitney, who were known to have had a son named James.
