Edward Franklin9 Whitney (Jacob Sargent8, Levi7, Solomon6, Solomon5, Nathaniel4, Nathaniel3, John2, John1), son of Jacob Sargent8 and Ann Maria (Cannell) Whitney, was born 5 Jul 1853, Mattapan or Dorchester, MA,[1] and died 9 Jan 1914, MA.

He married firstly, 23 Nov 1874, Milton, MA, Martha Ann Evans, daughter of Joseph and Eliza (Freeman) Evans.[2] She was born about 1855, Brewster, MA, and died 26 Oct 1892, Wakefield, MA, aged 37 years 11 months 10 days, of gastrulgia from effects of gallstones in the gall ducts.[3]

He married secondly, 26 Nov 1896, Wakefield, MA, Ada Aletha Trenholm, daughter of Hiram and​ Lucinda (Chapman) Trenholm. She was born Sep 1874, Point De Bute,​ NB.

i. Mary Josephine10 Whitney, b. 19 May 1877, Mattapan, Boston, MA;[4] m. 1 Jul 1903, Wakefield, MA [also recorded Somerville, MA], Herbert Wilson, b. ca. 1881, Cambridge, MA, son of Jonas W. and Sarah L. (Stevens) Wilson.[5] He was a newspaper reporter.
ii. Eva Viola Whitney, b. 1 Nov 1880, Lexington, MA;[6] m. 22 Jun 1904, Wakefield, MA, William A. Trenholm, b. ca. 1879, Point de Bute, NB, sonof Hiram and Lucinda (Chapman) Trenholm;[7] d. 3 Jul 1930.
iii. Albert Edward Whitney, b. 15 Nov 1882, Lexington, MA; m.(1) Marion Louise Hinds; m.(2) Eva Marie Simpson.
iv. Susan P. Whitney, b. 13 Feb 1885, Wakefield, MA [given name omitted];[8] m. 10 Sep 1910, Wakefield, MA, John Alfred Tuck, b. ca. 1883, Lee, Me., son of Charles H. and Mary E. (Abbee) Tuck.[9]
