Artemas6 Whitney (John5, Abraham4, Isaiah3, Thomas2, John1), son of John5 and Sarah (Atherton) Whitney,[1] was born 25 May 1786, Bolton, MA,[2] and died after 1823.
On 3 Jul 1804, Caleb Moore was appointed guardian to Artemas, Eber, Sarah, and Hannah Whitney, children of John Whitney of Bolton, MA.
Intentions of marriage were published 24 Dec 1815, Bolton, MA, for him and Rebecca Smith "of Shirley".[3] He "of Bolton" married, 4 Apr 1816, Shirley, MA, Rebecah Smith,[4] daughter of Ezra and Abigail (Sheldon)(Bolton) Smith. "Beccah" Smith was born 21 Jan 1786, Shirley, MA, and died 31 Jan 1870, Bolton, MA, aged 83, of old age and consumption.[5] Marriage intentions were published 6 May 1828, Townsend, MA, for her "Miss Rebeckah" and "Mr." James Page (1786-1849), both of Townsend.[6] She had three children by him, and lived in Lunenburg, MA, in 1830, 1840, and 1850.
