John married, 9 Dec 1762, Mendon, MA, Abigail Cheney, daughter of William and Joanna (Thayer) Cheney. She was born 20 Nov 1743, Mendon, MA, and died before 1810, VT. She was also known as Abigail Cheeney.

He and Abigail Cheney were dismissed to the church in Wardsboro, VT. He and his son Benjamin Jones lived in 1810 at Kiantone, NY. He was Deacon of the church.
